Originally trained in Victorian studies, my work as a scholar and teacher includes theories of the novel, the history of science, medical humanities, and aesthetic theory. Working across a wider historical range from early Victorian to very contemporary literature, I investigate how writers imagine and respond to the vulnerability of embodied life.
